Release v1.0.1
What’s Included in v1.0.1?
This is the first proper public release of KCD Watch, so rather than a traditional list of fixes and changes, here’s a quick overview of what the thing actually does.
- KCD-inspired rotating sundial – the main dial moves throughout the day to give the watch its distinctly Bohemian method of telling the time.
- Dynamic sunrise and sunset display – the daylight band adjusts using your Garmin’s sunrise and sunset data, so the watch changes with the actual length of the day rather than simply pretending that winter doesn’t exist.
- Current heart rate – displayed directly on the watch face, with a suitably cheerful little skull appearing if a heart-rate reading isn’t currently available.
- Body Battery – Garmin’s Body Battery value is shown with colour changes to make your current state a little easier to judge at a glance.
- Steps and daily progress – your current step count is displayed, with a visual change when your daily target has been reached.
- Activity Buff – a blue sapphire can appear when you’ve been particularly active, based on your Active Minutes and your own weekly Garmin activity goal.
- Activity Debuff – a red ruby can appear later in the day if both your steps and Active Minutes are falling substantially behind where they would normally be expected to be by that point.
- Stress Buff and Debuff – unusually low stress can earn you a blue sapphire, while exceptionally high stress can produce a red ruby. The thresholds are deliberately extreme, so these shouldn’t be flashing at you every five minutes.
- Recovery information – Garmin recovery data is worked into the watch face so you can see when your recent efforts may still be catching up with you.
- Health and activity information without turning the whole thing into a spreadsheet – the aim is to keep the useful Garmin data while still looking like something Henry might plausibly have looted from a suspiciously well-equipped and potentially time-travelling Cuman.
Most of the additional indicators are designed to stay out of the way unless there’s actually something worth drawing your attention to. The goal isn’t to have the watch constantly congratulating or scolding you (not at least this version as it’s meant to be ‘casual’) – just to make the useful bits of Garmin’s health and activity data feel like they belong in the world of KCD.

Phew… That was a lot of work! Hopefully the watch faces look OK and work on the devices that I’ve done them for so far. Please let me know! Would also be great that if you could either comment how the watch face looks like, or share it on reddit, email me an image at contact@kcdwatch.com, or somehow that I / others could see how they’re working and how they look like.
Finally, even though I did my very best trying to use Garmin data tokens that are shared between the watches… I have no way of confirming whether these watch faces work or whether they don’t. Therefore, it’s extremely important that if you download a watch face, you could also let me know if it works or not under the “Compatibility” page!
JCBP!
I love the project, but for the love of Henry please make a fenix 7x pro version 😀
Thanks… I but I think the lower resolution ones need to wait a bit, unfortunately. I could do a stripped down ‘lite’ version for the 280 x 280 watches – but would need someone to test that – and maybe even test first how it looks like with all the features crammed in – and if it’s really as bad as I think… Let’s see!
This is incredible, I’m so excited to see this on the fenix 7x pro – happy to test it if that helps!
I’ll be happy to test both, maybe add it here as – SUPER DANGEROUS EXPERIMENTAL – build? 😀
I’m also happy to test if you had resolution for Forerunner 255!!
Damn i love it, ive a 265s just use the 570 42mm version xD Its not perfectly in the center but i still love it and use it for now 🙂
Hope there will be a update version for my forerunner 265s <3
Absolutly awesome work, im searching for something like that for so long. Always just had a picture of it in the backround and now it works perfctly
Oh, it actually installs it and loads despite being wrong size AND wrong model?! That’s interesting. You know what? As you’re the first one to give actual feedback on the watch, let me just build the 360×360 version for you. Give me 20 minutes tops.
UPDATE: There we go. Less than 20 minutes. 🙂 Please note that this version doesn’t have smaller icons than the 390×390, but I just moved them around a bit and hopefully all looks good – but just a bit more condensed.

I haven’t added this yet on the website, but that direct link should work fine.
JCBP!
Update: Watch faces for 28 different models have now been built, individually compiled, and uploaded here.
JCBP!
Thanks its awesome 🙂
Now it works perfectly on Forerunner 265s <3
You are amazing 🙂 I share your work with every person who played kcd 🙂
This is amazing! I know you showed that Forerunner 255 is in the maybe list, so will keep coming back to check. Can’t wait to embody Henry just as Hans desired. JCBP!!
Heya! 🙂
This resolution is seeming a bit too difficult… But below are a couple of versions to test.
LITE version (Not confirmed to be working): https://kcdwatch.com/jcbp/releases/v.1.0.1/forerunner-255-LITE/forerunner-255-LITE.prg
Standard Version (Deemed too pixelated / crammed): https://kcdwatch.com/jcbp/releases/v.1.0.1/forerunner-255/forerunner-255.prg
EDIT & UPDATE: I had a confirmation through Reddit (thanks u/LordBelaTheCat) that the watch face is just too pixelated for that size with all the features and icons. 🙁
Just added the full epix family! 🙂
JCBP!
Need this for the Forerunner 245 please! Awesome project!
Thank you very much for this, really like the look.
Can confirm that the Forerunner 265 Version works 🙂
Lovely, thank you for confirming! JCBP!
JCBP! I downloaded it for my Vivoactive 6 and it works great. The only issue is the Czech language — the date doesn’t display correctly.
Thanks! And yes, that’s on the ‘todo’ list. The glyphs / letters are currently the basic A – Z and 0 – 9… I need to manually draw and do new ones to cover all the international variations, and then build the actual font files after I have all the glyphs saved as vectors. Which – I will do. So for the time being it kind of needs to be used in English, or another language that doesn’t do åöäúíá and so on in the first letters of the month / weekday. 🙁
(For me making the custom font is quite high priority anyways, as the Maximillian font (while great), takes so much vertical space with certain numbers)
JCBP!
EDIT: So I figured out that I need to add the following glyphs to the font set:
ÁÂÄÅÇÉÍÖØÚÛáâäåçéíöøúûČčĒēĚěĞğŘřŚśŞşŠšŪūŹźŽž
Which is… Not going to happen in the next week, or two, or more. As a hotfix, I am testing just routing the existing “non-special” glyphs to the existing ones. Meaning, for CZ and other special characters they’ll just go
č → c
ě → e
ř → r
á → a
í → i
ú → u
…
I’m updating this first for my watch to test – and then will update the other test builds here. Possibly later today, as I do need to start my real daytime work now! 🙂

Just as a quick update – I’ve now popped the new 1.2.X version test files with the font ‘hotfix’ on the page here, including the Vivoactive 6: https://kcdwatch.com/news/testers-wanted/
Hello, tested on vivoactive 5, looks perfect. Thank you!
Thanks for confirming! JCBP 🙂
If I’m not mistaken, the watch face file forces the 24 hour/military time. While I think that’s perfect for the edges/the actual sundial, an option to have the actual time in the middle be the 12 hour format would be so lovely. I’m pretty sure it’s set to 12-hour on my actual watch so that’s why I assumed it was the face files doing it. If I’m mistaken, please correct me. Otherwise, future optional preference thingy maybe? <3 I love the watch face, though. It actually inspired me to buy the watch to begin with!
That’s correct; the time formatting is hardcoded in the watch face currently. I am in the process of coming up with a few options / toggles – and that’s actually a very good suggestion and should be relatively easy to do – thanks & will add to the list of long todos! 🙂
JCBP
I just installed the Forerunner 965 version on my (suprise surprise) Garmin Forerunner 965 and it works perfectly! Installing it couldn’t have been easier.
What an amazing project you have here. I’m shouting about this in every tavern from Rattay to Kuttenberg, whether the locals have had enough ale to listen or not.
Keep up the good work!
Perfect, thanks for confirming! Compatibility list updated accordingly. 🙂
