KCDWatch.com is coming. God save us!
What began as the perfectly sensible idea of putting a Kingdom Come: Deliverance-inspired watch face on a Garmin has, through a series of increasingly questionable decisions, now acquired its own website.
Welcome to KCDWatch.com.
The site is currently being hammered, nailed and occasionally sworn into existence, but before long it’ll become the home of the KCD Watch project — including the latest watch face downloads, updates, installation instructions and everything else needed to get a little bit of Bohemia onto your wrist.
The watch face itself has grown rather considerably from the original idea. Alongside the usual time, date and Garmin data, it now includes KCD-inspired interpretations of things like heart rate, Body Battery, steps, battery level and other health and activity information, all designed to feel as though they belong somewhere between Henry’s inventory screen and a slightly overenthusiastic medieval physician.
There are also buffs and debuffs, with your Garmin stats deciding whether you’re currently looking suitably vigorous or perhaps in need of a bath, a meal and several hours at an inn (just don’t tell Theresa!).
The outer dial includes a sunrise and sunset display based on Garmin’s location data, turning the watch face into a sort of miniature medieval day/night indicator. Because apparently simply knowing that it is 4:37pm was no longer sufficient.
And there is more planned.
KCDWatch.com will eventually include:
- Free downloads of the latest KCD Watch builds
- Installation and setup guides, including sideloading the watch face onto compatible Garmin watches
- Compatibility information for different Garmin models
- Explanations of the various stats, indicators, buffs, debuffs and other mysterious symbols
- Updates and changelogs as new versions are released
- A look at some of the design ideas, experiments and things that seemed clever at the time
- Links to useful hardware and other bits where relevant
- Somewhere to report problems, suggest ideas and generally tell me what I’ve broken
The watch face will remain free to download. There’ll be an entirely optional Ko-fi link for anyone who particularly enjoys it and feels compelled to throw a few groschen into the development chest.
This is, of course, an entirely unofficial fan project. KCDWatch.com is not affiliated with or endorsed by Warhorse Studios or Garmin, and all the appropriate trademarks, artwork and extraordinarily muddy peasants belong to their respective owners.
For now, the site is still under construction.
And Henry has come to see us.
